New player myself and just wanted to say that while a lot of my fellow newberries (love that expression) are crying about this and that. The guys from the closed beta have been nothing but helpful to me in game.
To the newberries, when you ask a question, and a guy comes back with an answer and he sounds like he is talking down to you, remember, he has probably had to answer that same question 100 time that evening. So say thanks to him and if you should see someone ask a question you know the answer to, reply to it and share the information you have learned.
Again thanks to all you blueberry classics, you guys have been a great help last 2 days. |

It's not even the frustration that's obviously coming from newberries getting crushed trying to play like this is golden eye and they have the golden gun. It's the utter disregard of this game itself as being anything to them but just another shooter. They don't understand how amazing this game will be or the value it's meta will have. All they see is there KDR and how they can pad it more.
I think a number of people are seeing this game on psn store for free and thinking ill just give it a go. coming to this game with no idea what it is. So while i do see and understand your point, and it is.... disheartening (not quite the right word but my vocab is struggling) we, as people who have watched dust514 from concept to now, have to be willing to tell them why this game is going to be so cool and remind/inform them that it is still in beta. this isn't the full game.
That is all of our job, we right here, right now have to lay the foundations for a community that will last for years, if we get disheartened and stop now the community feel might never get a chance to take hold. And to my mind that community feel that I remember so fondly from eve is what will make or break dust in the long run. to outsiders dust is just another fps, add the community and it becomes another beast all of its own, without it, they will never see it beyond another fps.
I guess what I'm trying to say is please don't give up on all the newberries, please keep at it and please keep being awesome people.
Again thanks guys. |
